      Martial Arts is a concept that had truly begun in Africa in the valley of the Nile River about six thousand years ago or 4,000 B.C.  The term Martial Arts includes concepts such as, ability, hard work, time and patience. The word Martial Arts is a very common synonym for many different styles within the self-defense industry.  But, when saying it in a formal setting, one would say words likeWu Shu or Chuan Fa.

      With the traditional Martial Arts Dojo, it is very difficult to achieve the status of teacher. The required time in our school, even for the hardest working students, is an average of to 10 years long. With such a long and rigorous training schedule many students drop out and do not finish the requirements of their training.

      The lessons in the Southern styles are in the toughest and heaviest training. Anyone that has experienced these Martial Arts styles will unanimously agree. The powerful underlined techniques and deep stances are used for training aims, which demand a strong character, will power, patience, but also good concentration and discipline. We move in deep stances and go through the forms several times without getting up. The techniques used require the entire body; this is essential in the training process. There are many benefits that come from this training.  A couple of these benefits are to achieve flexibility and coordination. Think about the muscles in your legs, they will be constantly stressed during the deep stances. After a while they will be accustomed to the tension. The training requires the highest forms of concentration and strength to master the various techniques.

     One of the most important exercises for the student's development is the horse stance. If not performed correctly from the beginning the student will not develop proper balance during movement as they go further in their training.

      Not everyone can or will train with the same high intensity and concentration that is needed for the Martial Arts.

      It doesn't matter what is being done in the training process, whether it be stretching or practicing the forms, as long as it is done to the best of your ability. Don't forget Martial Arts means hard work and hard work is the only way to success.
